Scredit Crunch

Scred blog renamed ScreditCrunch

Posted in Scred by setok on September 17, 2008

As our larger future goals come to light, some people might think it a dire time to be involved with anything to do with money or finance. On the other hand it is a possibility to bring new thinking to the market. For finance which is community-oriented and for a system which is open. The very essence of Scred and what we are building. I could go into all the really serious reasons for why we decided to rename the blog, but to be honest, it was just an idea that brought us far too many smiles to resist. There are other crunching blogs for tech geeks. This is our crunch on what it is to be Scred.

Scred launches the Attack of the Cybermen

Posted in Scred by setok on September 15, 2008

Scred has just announced a new release: ‘Attack of the Cybermen’. It includes a feature requested by many users: the ability to invite people directly to pools. In fact this new feature actually allows you to pre-build pools and freely add new members to pools you are a member of. That way you do not have to wait for them to register and join the pool manually!

It has never been easier to start using Scred and to add all your friends to your pools. You can immediately create transactions against them. Let them join later, when they feel like it. The pool view has also been changed to make this simple.

Pools are Scred’s way of grouping friends together. Debts and balances are automatically shuffled within and they are well suited for travellers, sharing accommodation or for continuous use in a community or even at work. In fact they are the most popular way Scred is being used today. You can create and manage your pools from the ‘pools’ section in Scred.

Log into Scred to start using the new feature which is available right now.

Thank you to our patient users for their feedback and ideas. We hope you will be pleased with this new announcement. It is our first since virtually rewriting the whole of Scred on top of Python and Django this summer. Many more features are to be announced later.

Scred makes it into Seedcamp final

Posted in Scred by setok on September 9, 2008

It has just been announced that Scred is one of the 22 finalists in the Seedcamp competition. This was fantastic news after first reaching the interview stage and will already benefit the company greatly. Our core founding team will be travelling to London next week to spend time with mentors, investors, PR people, media and other Seedcamp finalists. Considering that up to 400 companies from all around Europe applied, this is a fantastic achievement and a great display of faith for our broad concept.

I would like to thank all our users for their great support and feedback, as well as patience while we were making our huge transition to Django. Now that that is complete, I believe the upcoming months will reveal some great new glimpses into the future of Scred.

Report on Scred’s trip to Seedcamp interview

Posted in Scred by setok on September 6, 2008

Scred had a good time during our brief trip to London as one of only about 40 companies from several hundred applicants to be interviewed for the Seedcamp competition. We were the first Finnish company to make it to that stage. Arctic Startup posted my full report on our trip. The finalists will be announced later by Seedcamp. Exciting times!
